There is nothing shameful about getting older. After all, with age comes wisdom, experience, and wonderful adventures. However, most people can agree that despite getting older being a good thing, there’s nothing wrong with wanting to look your best.

The great news is that looking fabulous often comes down to practicing simple beauty habits. If you want to look great well into your retirement years and beyond, then here are some essential beauty tips that you won’t want to miss.

Wear Sunblock

In many ways, the sun can be a good thing for us. It provides vitamin D, and it can even reduce your chances of depression. However, too much of anything can be a bad thing.

It’s important that you protect yourself if you go out in the sun by wearing sunblock. You will significantly reduce your chances of developing skin cancer, and you will also preserve the overall texture and appearance of your skin.

UV rays degrade your skin’s appearance over time and will affect its elasticity. In other words, if you don’t want wrinkles, then stay out of the sun as much as possible, and always wear sunblock.

Get Enough Sleep

Have you ever noticed that you look your worst when you’re exhausted and haven’t slept well the night before? Imagine if you continued to sleep poorly for years on end. Chronic fatigue can start to take its toll on your appearance.

Not only will you start to get bags under your eyes, but your skin will lose its radiance and you’ll lack the glow that comes along with getting a good night’s sleep.

In addition to the quantity of sleep, you want to make sure that the quality of your sleep is up to par. That means sleeping on a high quality mattress and using a pillow with just the right amount of support for your neck.

Use Face Cream

In your younger years, getting away with skipping face cream sometimes was possible. However, as you get older, you can age yourself overnight by skipping out on your important face creams.

In addition to a daily moisturizer, you should also incorporate retinol. Retinol helps strengthen your skin and purge dead skin cells that will give your skin a dull appearance. Just remember that creams like retinol can make your skin more susceptible to the sun. So, after retinol, always make sure to apply an SPF of 30 or higher.

Hydrate

Water does wonders for your overall health, including your appearance. Sip water throughout the day to keep your skin hydrated and smooth. Ideally, doctors recommend drinking at least two liters of water a day, with nothing else added. Even though you might be tempted to add sugar or diluted juice, plain old water is what does the trick best!
